ARE FRUITS HEALTHY FOR AN ANTI-INFLAMMATORY, LOW CARB DIET


Nutrition is critical for your health and well-being. Weight management and anti-inflammatory foods allow for less pain and a longer, more enjoyable life. Most diets encourage vegetables and fruits. SOME FRUITS, ESPECIALLY WHEN EATEN IN EXCESS, CAN BE DETRIMENTAL DUE TO THEIR HIGH SUGAR CONTENT. However, fruits are healthy and have many health benefits. One good way to decrease the ill effects of the sugar in fruits is to eat them with a protein. For example, have a small serving of fruit at breakfast after eating an egg omelet with vegetables. Other ways include having a smoothie with a plant-based protein powder or mixing some fruit with a plain, no sugar added Greek yogurt.

Here are the five lowest sugar fruits:

1. Cranberries: 4.3 g sugar (1 cup, whole)

2. Raspberries: 5.4 g sugar (1 cup, whole)

3. Blackberries: 7.0 g sugar (1 cup, whole)

4. Strawberries: 7.4 g sugar (1 cup, halves)

5. Watermelon: 9.4 g sugar (1 cup, diced)
