ARE ALL FRUITS HEALTHY

ARE FRUITS HEALTHY FOR AN ANTI-INFLAMMATORY, LOW CARB DIET

Nutrition is critical for your health and well-being. Weight management and anti-inflammatory foods allow for less pain and a longer, more enjoyable life. Most diets encourage vegetables and fruits. SOME FRUITS, ESPECIALLY WHEN EATEN IN EXCESS, CAN BE DETRIMENTAL DUE TO THEIR HIGH SUGAR CONTENT. However, fruits are healthy and have many health benefits. One good way to decrease the ill effects of the sugar in fruits is to eat them with a protein. For example, have a small serving of fruit at breakfast after eating an egg omelet with vegetables. Another way is to have a smoothie with a plant-based protein powder.

Here are the five lowest sugar fruits:

1. Cranberries: 4 g sugar (1 cup, whole)

2. Raspberries: 5 g sugar (1 cup, whole)

3. Blackberries: 7 g sugar (1 cup, whole)

4. Strawberries: 7 g sugar (1 cup, halves)

5. Watermelon: 9 g sugar (1 cup, diced)

Fruits with the highest sugar content:

Mango: 23 g sugar (1 cup)

Cherries 20 g sugar (1 cup)

Apples 19 g sugar (1 cup) - also high in pesticide uptake

Oranges 17 g

Pears 17 g

Pineapple 16 g

Bananas 14 g

Fruits are sprayed with pesticides and preservatives that may be harmful to you. You may consider buying organic for the low sugar/high pesticide fruits such as strawberries. The fruits with the highest uptake of pesticides:

Strawberries

apples

nectarines

peaches

cherries

pears
